For the past few years, our youth group has been going down to Charlotte, North Carolina every February for the Romanian Winterfest, which is a get together of all the Romanian youth on the East Coast.
We left Chicago Thursday night, and arrived in Charlotte Friday afternoon. We ate lunch, checked into our hotel, and got ready for that night’s service. After the service, we went to Cook Out, where we ran into a bunch of other people we knew.
The next day we visited NoDa, which is a popular arts district in Charlotte. We ate lunch at Boudreaux’s Louisiana Kitchen (501 E 36th St, Charlotte, NC 28205), where we waited forever to get our food. It was really good though! Afterwards, one of the employees showed us a back room which had really cool graffiti on the walls. We had a small photoshoot in there while other members of our group were still waiting for their food to be served.
When they finally got their food, another part of our group walked in, wanting to eat their as well. As we were already done, we decided to explore the area some more, and we ended up visiting the Smelly Cat Coffeehouse, which is located at 514 E 36th St, Charlotte, NC 28205.
Soon it was time to head back to the hotel, and get ready for that night’s service.
The next morning we visited one of Elevation Church’s locations, and attended the service there. It was really awesome, even though I’m not into that whole “pastor on a screen” thing.
We ate at this really cool pizza place afterwards, and then visited a Starbucks, where this woman gave us all chocolates because she wanted to do something nice for people on Valentine’s Day.
With it being Valentine’s Day, my friends and I had a lot of fun passing out candy after that night’s service. We found it was a great way to introduce ourselves to new people.
After a good night’s rest, it was time to head back home the next day. We had had a great weekend, full of fun adventures, but Chicago was calling our names.
